South America - anyone been?
Off to Chile and Argentina with a visit to Patagonia and the Iguaza falls...has any one been? Any advice?
I'm going in September so assume the weather will be spring like.

I would like to visit Javier Margas's restaurant - is it in Santiago?

Thanks in advance

If you go to Puno, on the Peruvian side of Lake Tittcaca, there's a boat built by the Thames Iron Workers still afloat and doing trips around the lake. Planning to go in Jan. but I did plan to go and see The Mousetrap and that never happened..

Cheers! Not got anything booked, but definitely planning on going for the four day hike. Just getting the train to machu picchu seems to defeat the point of it!

Haha I’d probably say spend most of your time in Costa Rica cos it’s cooler/more interesting Gav but pop down to Bocas for 3 days after doing Tortugero & Puerto Viejo .

Ask Panamahat. He'll tell you to go to Bocas Del Toro no doubt though!

I know it’s not South America, but close enough and I didn’t want to start another thread about it - has anyone been to Costa Rica? Thinking about going there next feb/March

Fair enough Claret. Serous note listening to how they were shat on by their Government was heart breaking.

Re: South America - anyone been?
Hi Alex I walked the Inca trail ,I find the second day the hardest I found the walk not that hard some trekkers have a porter to carry there equipment ,you can walk the trek on your own without a guide or you get the train to Michu Picchu .Inca trail last three days but some walks last two days two nights or one day one night .How long are you in Peru for if get the chance go to Huacachina a small village with sand dunes with a lake in the middle or the Nazca lines or Arequipa with the deepest canyon ,if you visit lake Titicaca best to the Bolivian side more to see of the lake it's near the border and try the guinea pig with a Inca cola it's a strange soft drink ,have a great trip if you need any more info let me know.

I'm planning on doing the Inca trail next year. Anyone done it on here? Any tips, particularly regarding fitness and coping with the altitude.

A bit young in cheek there Dave, as I was referring to the top gear episode when the 3 clowns went to Patagonia and got run out of town.

The difference is I post for half an hour then get on with a real life off WHO. You spend your 'working life' on here and trawling the internet for stories that spell doom and despondency for Brexit to confirm your fears for life outside of an undemocratic EU....
